KEWEN SCHOOL OF MUSIC UPDATE I hope you’re all having a lovely bank holiday and enjoying the better weather. I’ve got some further updates related to our last announcements message. I hope you’re all adjusting to the new coded entry system. Please make sure you remember this before coming to a lesson. PRICE CHANGES As a business we are always changing and expanding meaning that some decisions made by us are out of our control but also change depending on the development of the business. Last week I was informed that we will have to become VAT registered and there’s some things that will have to change long term once we cross the threshold with HMRC. Because of all the changes, this means that we are going to postpone any recently announced price changes for the time being. They will be increasing later this year and we will need to reassess exactly how much but for now they are staying the same. Announcements will be made prior to this well in advance. For those who are eligible for a family/multiple lesson discount then we are still going ahead with the slight adjustments here and minimising it to £2 off the hour and £1 off half an hour. Thanks for being patient and I apologise for the confusing change of circumstance here but I imagine many of you are happy with the prices staying the same for now. Thanks Callum 🎶
Easter Concert 2025 Highlights 🐣🐰🍫💐🎶 Well done to everybody involved, we are very proud of the achievements you all continue to make and improvements we can see throughout all of the students! There was a great range of performances this time and the Summer show is due to be another great showcase event. KEWEN SCHOOL OF MUSIC UPDATE I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break. There are some important updates and changes being implemented over the next few weeks that you all need to be aware of… CODED ENTRY Upon reopening on Friday 25th April, we now have a newly installed Coded Entry system on our main entry door in the courtyard. The entry code will be text to all students. This is very important and we cannot accept any responsibility for students stuck outside and not knowing/remembering the code. This is to increase security in our building so that only those who are permitted to enter can enter. I hope this make students as well as parents feel more safe and secure when coming and going from our premises. PRICE CHANGES We highly appreciate that for the majority of our customers our music lessons are a hobby and a luxury and whilst we understand that times can be tough, we believe that it is time for a small price increase as a business. Price increases are never something that we wish to do lightly and with us now heading into our third year we are looking at ways we can run the business more effectively and ensure our staff get paid what they deserve for their time. This has been something we have wanted to do in our second year however it was never the right time. We have various costs to oversee now including newly added security systems, wifi, higher overheads, more suppliers and workers coming into the fold and more so we need to weigh up how to pay for these expenses. From Monday 2nd June there will be a small increase on all lesson costs. Any outstanding lesson blocks/payments booked in will be honoured at their original price. Our new block booking prices will also change slightly however still overall saving you money as opposed to paying individually. FAMILY/MULTIPLE LESSON DISCOUNT CHANGES Also from Mon 2nd June, all students eligible for multiple lesson/family discounts will have their barriers changed slightly. This is also so we can manage our costs better overall as a music school. We understand that this will have a double impact on those already paying multiple lesson/family discounts and they will be hit with a double price increase. Therefore any student currently on a discount of this type will have this applied for the next 6 months then will have to adjust to our new pricing plan after this time period. I hope you can understand our need to do these changes in a tough business climate however I do fully believe that it will further allow us to do more with our business such as offer more opportunities to students, upgrade our equipment and premises over time, help further fund our school concerts, help keep our name out there and much more. For the safety of our students, parents and staff we are pleased to announce that we are finally implementing some safety features at Kewen School of Music. We managed to get the Floodlight the other week which lights up our whole courtyard, we now also have CCTV cameras monitoring both sides of the building. We are also getting a coded entry system in place in a couple of weeks. You will only be able to enter Kewen School of Music via a 4 digit code which will be passed on to all parents. It is the parent’s responsibility to pass this onto the child but this will help make our building more safer and secure👌
We loved hosting our first official kids workshop on Friday afternoon🎸 These are going to be weekly sessions hosted by our tutor James for only £10 per child! So far we have some home educated children but it will be open for all kids in the holidays but there are only maximum 6 places available… Get in touch to reserve your child’s spot now (ideal for beginners between 8-12 years old) 😃🎶 12:15pm start time 🤘

This is Daisy - Daisy has only been coming since the start of the year but the progress she has made with Liam on Monday nights has been absolutely tremendous! 👏 She is only 6 years and is even singing along to Paramore songs too! Well done Daisy! 😃 I think this is the soonest and youngest I’ve seen someone sing and play at the same time, huge props to Liam for the progress made so far 👌🎸🎶

What a great night we had on Wednesday 18th December for our Christmas show! 🎅🏻🎄👌 Here’s a highlight reel of some of the students and tutors who took part - huge well done to everybody involved - we are very proud as always to see so many new faces being brave and getting up on the stage but also familiar faces returning and improving from previous performances! 😀 Our next show will be Easter so keep an eye out for dates! 👀 We re-open our doors for 2025 on Thursday and slots are still available but are getting booked up fast - book in now to avoid disappointment! 🎶
FAREWELL TO OUR LOVELY PIANO TUTOR CLEF 🎼🎹 We are very saddened to be losing Clef from our team of tutors but we wish her all the best in her career moving forward. Thanks for everything you have done and the joy you have brought to your students. It was great to have you taking part in the Christmas show last week! 👌 Jett will be taking over from Clef on Saturdays going forward. It has been a pleasure to have Clef on the team - thanks again! 😃🎶🎹
What an absolutely fantastic turnout we had on Wednesday for our Christmas concert - this was truly our best one yet! A MASSIVE well done to every student who got up and gave it their all on that stage, we are all very proud of you! 👌 We had a range of ages, instruments as well as some tutor and group performances. Highlights will be posted soon and we cannot wait for the Easter Concert next year! 🐣 Thanks to everybody who came down and supported from parents to tutors and other students and all the rest of you. Our Christmas Concert is tomorrow at 7pm at Blyth Comrades Club! We have over 20 performers with some surprises in store too 👀 Doors will be open from 6:30pm and seating is first come first serve. We can’t wait to show you what our students have been working on - performances will range from Guitar to Singing to Drums to Piano to Violin to Sax as well as group jams! 😃🎶
